MEMBERSHIP

All international Field Staff appointed under the 100 or 300 series of the Staff Rules recruited specifically for service in peacekeeping and other field operations (i.e. Field Service Officers, staff serving at the Field Service Level (FSL), Mission appointees at the Professional Level, IFLD, and FSL Mission Appointees), as well as staff on temporary assignment from UN Headquarters duty stations and other UN established offices under the authority of the United Nations are members of the FSU, unless otherwise desirous.

THE PURPOSE OF THE FSU

a)

To contribute to the promotion of the objectives of the charter of the United Nations, in particular, by the efficient discharge of the functions assigned to the Field Staff of the United Nations Secretariat.

b)

To promote and safeguard the rights, interests and welfare of all International Field Staff.

c)

To maintain relations and cooperation with staff organizations of the United Nations Common System.
